Machine Learning Algorithm Developer

SALARY: UP TO £55,000

LOCATION - BRISTOL

What we can offer you:

  • Company Bonus: Up to £2,500, dependent on company performance, and subject to annual variation.
  • Pension: Combined employer and employee contribution of up to 14%.
  • Overtime: Paid overtime opportunities available.
  • Flexi Leave: Up to 15 additional days.
  • Training and Development: Outstanding opportunities for career progression, training, and development.

The role:

This role involves the development of sophisticated algorithms that are central to guided weapon systems. Engineers in Intelligent Autonomous Systems (IAS) contribute throughout the project life-cycle, including technical algorithm development, feasibility studies, and trials analysis. They design, validate, and improve algorithms, while addressing technical challenges and providing solutions, either individually or within project teams. The role also requires close collaboration with algorithm users to ensure the algorithms meet their needs.

What we want from you:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a relevant field, or a degree with strong mathematical and programming skills
  • Significant experience (Post-Doctoral or industrial) in areas such as robotics, data fusion, tracking/estimation, pattern discovery & recognition, statistical inference, optimization, machine learning, deep learning algorithms, as well as real-time implementation, validation, and verification, is highly advantageous
  • Proficiency in Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, Python, and libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Open AI-Gym/Universe, or Model-Based Design would be beneficial

We encourage IAS Engineers to develop comprehensive expertise across multiple domains, such as:

  • Robotics, guidance, and autonomous decision-making, including routing and trajectory planning, optimization, coordinated guidance and control, decision theory, MDPs/POMDPs, game theory, decision support systems, and multi-agent systems
  • Data fusion and state estimation/tracking algorithms, such as Kalman Filtering, multiple-model tracking, particle filters, grid-based estimation, Multi-Object-Multi-Sensor Fusion, data association, random finite sets, Bayesian belief networks, and Dempster-Shafer theory
  • Machine Learning for regression and pattern recognition, including Gaussian processes, latent variable methods, support vector machines, probabilistic/statistical models, neural networks, Bayesian inference, random forests, novelty detection, and clustering
