Service Engineer - Software

A leading organization specializing in customized machinery solutions is looking for a Service Engineer - Software to support its growing customer base. This role offers flexibility for remote work and requires global travel to deliver technical support directly to clients, making it ideal for a professional with expertise in machinery servicing, commissioning, and software engineering.

Location: Remote work option available
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 08:30 to 17:00; Friday, 08:30 to 16:00
Overtime may be required for travel to customer sites.


Position Overview

The Service Engineer will play a pivotal role in the installation, commissioning, and servicing of machinery worldwide, with a focus on software support and customer interaction. Regular global travel is required to ensure seamless machine operation and to provide hands-on support, while remote work will allow for additional flexibility when not on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site visits worldwide to install, commission, and train clients on new machinery.
  • Develop, debug, and integrate software for production line setups.
  • Provide remote diagnostics and support for machine breakdowns, upgrades, and installations.
  • Liaise with internal teams and maintain up-to-date support logs for seamless remote support.
  • Collaborate with parts and service teams for accurate quotes and repair facilitation.
  • Assist with in-house testing and quality documentation, supporting remote diagnostics when feasible.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Education:

    • Recognized qualification in Electronic, Electrical, or Control Engineering (e.g., BTEC, HNC).
  • Experience:

    • Electrical/Software (PLC) engineering background, with certification for 3-phase installations.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in machinery servicing, fault-finding, and Siemens/Allen Bradley programming.
  • Skills:

    • Proficient in troubleshooting and implementing reliable solutions.
    • Effective communicator, able to work independently and remotely.
    • Skilled in MS Office and documentation generation for remote and on-site use.

Additional Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Degree in electrical/control systems engineering, with or working towards chartered status.
  • Experience in packaging machinery commissioning, production line validation, and documentation.

  • Must hold a valid passport, with a willingness to travel globally.
  • Independent and self-motivated, with the ability to work remotely as needed.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and provide outstanding customer support.
