Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) plays a key role in ensuring that our suppliers meet the company's rigorous quality standards. This is accomplished by establishing and managing effective quality processes and a supplier audit plan, using a risk-based approach driven by the analysis of supplier data, product non-conformance, and product criticality.

Additionally, the SQE will coach and train both the inspection team and suppliers, ensuring adherence to international and customer-specific aerospace quality systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP, and other relevant customer requirements).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain supplier quality management systems in accordance with ISO 9001, AS9100, NADCAP, and other aerospace standards.
  • Establish and manage a comprehensive supplier audit schedule and ensure its effective execution.
  • Lead the supplier corrective action process, ensuring the tracking and improvement of supplier quality through audit findings and identified product non-conformances.
  • Provide training and mentorship to internal teams and suppliers to conduct supplier audits effectively.
  • Support internal quality assurance activities, including conducting internal audits.
  • Coordinate containment efforts for purchased products to manage non-conformance and prevent issues from reaching production.
  • Continuously develop and improve quality management processes and procedures to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives for process, product, customer, and supplier concerns, focusing on corrective and preventive actions.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • ISO 9001 and AS9100-qualified auditor with experience conducting quality audits and mentoring internal auditors.
  • Significant experience in developing, applying, and maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS) to ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
  • Experience with First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Skilled in applying appropriate methods, procedures, and standards to achieve quality targets.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.

Desired Skills:

  • Lead Auditor certification.
  • Experience working with NADCAP Welding and NDT requirements.
  • Familiarity with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
  • Knowledge of or experience working with AS13100 requirements.
