Our brand new Engineering & Manufacturing magazine is Issue 11! Our issue has a look into the hot topics of the moment, covering Artificial Intelligence within Medicine, 3D Printing and Autonomous vehicles. AI in Medicine
With the rise of Artificial Intelligence within medicine, we take a look into whether we are becoming too technologically advanced or whether AI does, in fact, minimise risks. With AI now diagnosing skin cancer more accurately than experts, it is not too long before it will be taking over the roles of doctors
Famous Robots
We take a look at five of the most famous robots that have been made in recent years. ASIMO is the oldest, having been created in 2000 demonstrates the start of how advanced robots can be. Pepper, the semi-humanoid robots that is currently being used as a receptionist in several offices features. Lastly, we look into two robots made by Boston Dynamic’s Atlas and SpotMini, these creations demonstrate remarkable behaviour: mobility, agility, dexterity and speed, is a true example of how dynamic robots that are currently being made are.
The New Wave of 3D Printing
With 3D printing continuously evolving, machines now come in a variety of sizes, capable of printing a wide assortment of items from everyday objects to functional pieces of kit. When looking at the advancements 3D printing has made, even items as large as houses can be 3D printed, meaning constructing a small single-story home can take as little as 24 hours. 3D printing is also becoming more and more visible within dining experiences with many restaurants now printing food.
The World’s Largest Fictional Manufacturer
We take a look at one of the world’s longest running (and fictitious) manufacturer’s, Santa’s Workshop and looked into what would be needed to run Santa’s Workshop in 2018 from where it is based, employment laws to even grander requirements for elves, their salaries and overall how much it would cost to run Santa’s Workshop!
