Over the past year, Mane and its staff have been very proactive in supporting our chosen charity, The Peace Hospice. Our HR Team have organised several events and activities, all in aid of raising as much money as possible for the charity. This has included quizzes, raffles, an easter egg hunt, a table tennis tournament and a colour fun run. With the generosity of staff and clients alike, we have managed to raise £2,000!
So what will the money be put towards? A question often asked by people who want to understand more about the difference their contribution makes. Having visited The Peace Hospice yesterday, it really brought home how much they rely on donations to provide a decent quality of service to those they look after. For example, the total decoration cost for one in-patient room and wet room is £13,000, highlighting the enormity of the task in hand. Yet every donation, however large or small, by businesses and individuals alike, is met with a huge amount of gratitude and appreciation.
And it's not just structural improvements to the facilities that donations get used for either. Every aspect of The Peace Hospice has been done with the utmost care and consideration for its patients. From a hand-made glass memorial tree, to stones with messages of comfort written on them, subtle touches like this are just as important, providing a warm sense of belonging. The Peace Hospice provides medical and emotional support, pain management, spiritual therapy, counselling and family bereavement support, through their in-patient unit, hospice at home and starlight services.
Mane's staff have really embraced supporting the charity and being a part of a truly great cause. We're looking forward to continuing our support, with plenty more fund raising events lined up for the rest of the year and into 2017, to hopefully surpass what we have already raised thus far.
